The short version is:

1)After u beat apollo move immediately to Iolcus (Political Center). Stay there your first 24 hours.

2) WITH CEASEFIRE ON, visit trade city (Ptelus) once per day to invest in an important city.

3) Do not visit military city unless you're REALLY strong and REALLY know what you're doing.
